The world has us following trends: new hair color, new game system, fishnets as socks, brand new iPhones. All of these things are trends, even if they don't seem to be. You may see your neighbor with a PS4 and you have a PS3, and you do whatever you can to save up your money so you can go ahead and buy the new gaming system. Your best friend may have gotten her hair colored for the summer time and you think she looks so beautiful so you go and dye your hair so you can match her. We spend an hour trying to get that perfect picture at our local coffee shop so we can show off how picture perfect we can be. If the iPhone 7 comes out and you have an iPhone 6, pfftttt you must be lame.
The world's goal is to blindside us from what is truly going on around us. This seems messed up doesn't it? The world trying to blindside us, sounds like complete nonsense. But this is all true, when you wake up in the morning you don't think about how your parents slept, or even how a homeless person got their meal last night. The first thing you do when you wake up is think about yourself, how you slept, or you may even check your phone. Everything that people seem to do today is only about one specific person, me, myself & I. This is significantly true as well, but not most people are like that.
I feel like a lot of us shield away God, maybe even not on purpose. We're so focused on other things going on in our lives and we forget about him. But the world also thinks it's so cool to not be religious and just live in today's current trends and to curse every 2.5 seconds. People spend up to 2-5 hours on their phone alone, scrolling through Instagram or any other social media site. They go to concerts and the first thing you see up in the air, is someone's phone recording the whole experience instead of living it. Lets think about this, if people's phones were replaced with bibles, what do you think the world would look like? Everyone would be spending a lot more time with God then caring about what new Starbucks drink came out or what Kylie Jenner decided to wear that day.
Now, I'm not saying not to follow social trends or to spend less time on your phone, you're the only one who can control what you decide to do with your life. My point here is that we care so much about the little things that are materialistic, that we forget the bigger picture. When we die we're not going to bring the stuff we have on this Earth with us. Now you may argue and say that we can bring stuff into our coffins, but let me tell you honey, none of that comes with you. We should be spending more time with our loved ones, and spreading love to every person that we see, even random strangers. If we spent more time praying, or reading the Bible than we do on our phones, think about the changes it would make in our lives. The word of God is like a wildfire, it affects one person after the next. If you change your habits, the way you talk, the way you act, it'll surely move along. If we stop being blindsided by what the world wants us to see, and open our eyes to see what God has made, we'll realize that the people on this Earth need our help. We may be the only people that someone sees who has God in their hearts, we could help someone go through such a difficult time and lead them to God. We can help so many people, but do you know what the world says? Do it for Instagram, do it for Snapchat, Do it for Facebook. But what About doing it for God? Instagram and Facebook do not prove that you're a good person, or even show your whole life. God has your life planned out, the good times and the bad.
Try for one whole day, not to be blindsided. Hang out with your family, play some board games, go on a walk, do something you've always wanted to do that the world told you that you cannot do, be the person you've always wanted to be. God made you for a purpose, but you need to decide not to be blindsided by the world, and let that purpose somehow tell people about God as well. Don't live a blindsided life, live a life where you're guided through God's eyes. He's the one who see's past this world, and even beyond it.
I'm a huge fan of chicken nuggets, and enthusiastically excited about what God as in store for my life. My other half is currently in the Air Force, so a lot of blog posts will be about the military as of right now.
