If anyone knows me in person I’m pretty sure that you know that I hurt my foot. If you want a funny story, well here ya go. I’m not athletic, you can literally tell by looking at me. I like to stay inside and watch Netflix and drink coffee, write or sometimes read, and I love going to church. Ever since the tragedy at Douglas my school decided to lock the gates that I usually use to walk home. I wasn’t aware of the locked gates, it would take about 20ish minutes extra to walk all the way back to just get home (because I’m a literal turtle). So I decided to do what everyone else was doing and I went to jump the fence. I handed one of my classemates my bag and I braced myself to land. I didn’t end up falling, I was stuck dangling on the fence. My bracelet was holding me up, and let me tell you that bracelet was just two pieces of string and to this day I have no idea how it held me. I was actually hanging off the fence. I was struggling to unhook my bracelet. My wrist ended up with a huge cut and was bleeding and bruised. I finally got to unhook myself, and I ended up landing on one foot. This caused so much pain and I was literally not able to walk more than two feet. I was rushed straight to the ER, and the rest is history.
So it’s been about 2-3 months since that unforgettable mistake. If you’re curious I still can’t walk for more than 20 minutes without my ankle swelling and having to take a break due to pain. But this has taught me something. Do you know the phrase “God won’t put a wall infront you that you can’t get over”? I climbed a 7-8 foot fence and I completely messed up my ankle, but on the bright side, I got over it.
You may have climbed a fence that God put in front of you and you’ll never notice it. You’re thinking that this will never end, and you’re going to die depressed. But you’re already over the fence, you have to forget about it. You have to go through all the physical therapy, in this case spiritual therapy, to get over what happened to you when you were on that fence. Don’t let a fence stop you from reaching your potential, or stopping you from becoming the person God wants you to be. He helped you over that fence, but did you let him catch you? Or did you let the devil grab on to you while you were coming down it.
Today choose to break free, break the bracelet that’s stuck on the fence and choose to fall into God’s love. He wants you to choose him, and he’ll help you get over that wall. You’re story does not end once you go over the fence. It’s going to keep happening to you, you are going to face one fence after another, but let God help carry you over the fence, so you can land gracefully into his love. Everything will heal over time, wether it’s a broken foot, or even a broken heart.
Dear God, I need your help to get over the fence. I’m overwhelmed and I am breaking, but I know that with you I can do anything because you give me the strength to. Help me break away from what the devil is trying to create so I can’t get over the fence. God I need you to help me dive right into your love.
I'm a huge fan of chicken nuggets, and enthusiastically excited about what God as in store for my life. My other half is currently in the Air Force, so a lot of blog posts will be about the military as of right now.
